The New Frontiers in Hydrocarbons – Downstream prize has been awarded to Johannes Lercher, from the Technische Universität München, for his research project Novel catalytic strategies to Alkenes and Alkanols; while the Upstream prize was given to Christopher Ballentine from University of Oxford, for his research paper Novel Tracers for Determining the Fluid Processes Controlling Subsurface Gas Origin and Behaviour.
The Environmental Protection Prize has been awarded to David Milstein, from the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel), for the research project Novel, Environmentally Friendly, Efficient Catalytic Reactions to Replace Polluting Processes. Research Debut prizes were given to Federico Bella from the Politecnico di Torino, for his doctoral thesis Photopolymers for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells and Alessandra Menafoglio from the Politecnico di Milano, for her doctoral thesis Object Oriented Geostatistics.
The 2106 Eni Award prizes will be presented to the winners on October 20 during an official ceremony at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. The award aims to promote a better use of energy sources and to stimulate new generations of researchers.
