Bianca Giovanardi, PhD student in Mathematical Engineering at MOX, currently spending a period at MIT with a Rocca grant, has participated to a hackaton open to graduate students of MIT on reducing waste and inefficiency.
Her group won the third prize by answering a challenge to develop a disaggregation algorithm to break down total electricity load of a building into major energy use categories such as heating, cooling, lighting, and equipment operation.
