The event had a broad focus on the mathematical methods for few- and many-body quantum systems, topological phases of matter, and spectral and operator theory. The program featured 4 advanced PhD courses, over 70 hours of invited talks and seminars delivered by renowned international scientists — including mathematicians, theoretical physicists, and philosophers of science — as well as 20 contributed talks by early-career researchers.
The intensive period included the following key events:
- Kick-off Meeting, 10–11 March
- PhD Course "Boundary Value Problems and Differential Operators", by Jussi Behrndt (Graz University), 12–21 March
- PhD Course "Quantum Systems at the Brink", by Dirk Hundertmark (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), 31 March – 11 April
- PhD Day, with talks by D. Cafiero, F. Perani, and T. Pistillo, 10 April
- PhD Course "Mathematics of the 2D Anyon Gas", by Douglas Lundholm (Uppsala University), 28 April – 7 May
- Workshop "Quantum Information, Entanglement and Causality", 8–9 May
- PhD Course "Thermalization of Open Quantum Many-Body Systems", by Ángela Capel Cuevas (University of Cambridge), 12–16 May
- Workshop "Probabilistic Methods for Open Quantum Systems", 19–20 May - jointly organized with A. Lucia and G. Valente
- Workshop "Mathematics of Condensed Matter Systems", 26–30 May - jointly organized with F. Fagnola and A. Lucia
- Workshop "Recent Advances in Operator Theory and Its Applications", 3–6 June - jointly organized with A. De Martino and P. Schlosser, alongside with F. Colombo and M. Correggi as members of the Scientific Committee
This initiative was part of the “Department of Excellence” project of the Department of Mathematics at Politecnico di Milano, Research Line 3 “Mathematical Features of Quantum Mechanics”, coordinated by Prof. Michele Correggi and funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) for the period 2023–2027.
The proceedings of the Intensive Period will be collected in a Special Issue of the journal Complex Analysis and Operator Theory.
We extend our sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, organizers, and administrative staff for their essential contributions to the success of this event.
