Abstract
Microarrays are a new technology to investigate the
expression levels of thousands of genes simultaneously under certain
conditions or in a given tissue. Promising new high throughput
technologies such as these coupled with growing efforts of
standardization and integrated computing infrastructures are leading the
way to a better understanding of basic molecular biology and cancer in
particular. An overview of the current technologies and the computing
strategies for analysing gene expression data will be presented. This
will be followed by a brief introduction to the future challenges
expected in this field.
