Sunday 19 On Sunday morning, in the hall of the hotel "Il Chiostro" there will be a reception desk. On Sunday afternoon, at 3.30 p.m., there will be a simple opening ceremony (most of the speeches will be in italian): 15.30 : Welcoming remarks and presentation of the RISM (C. D. Pagani, Politecnico di Milano) 15.40 : Presentation of the courses (E. Bombieri, IAS, Princeton, USA) 15.50 : Greetings of the local authorities 16.10 : "Riemann in Italia" (U. Bottazzini, Università di Milano) 16.40 : Reception 17.30 - 18.30 : "Bernhard Riemann: Remarks on his life and some of his mathematical work" (R. Narasimhan, University of Chicago) The scientific works will start on Monday and will proceed according to the schedule below. The lectures will last one hour, and is left up to the lecturer to use the last 10 minutes (or so) for discussions. Lecturers may use blackboards (with chalk), transparencies, slide projector, PC and beamer.
