Title of the talk: Applied Partial Differential Equations

Abstract: Partial differential equations are based on the Newton- Leibnitz differential-integral calculus. They have been used by Maxwell, Boltzmann, Einstein and Schrödinder to formulate the basic laws of physics as we know them today. Recently partial differential equations have taken an important role as modeling tools in applied sciences such as the life sciences, chemistry and even in the socio-economic sciences.
We present some case studies of nonlinear partial differential equations to illustrate their power as quantitative and qualitative scientific tools, and last but not least, to show the beauty of mathematics at work.
