DMAT wins the FISA 2024 SUSTAIN project

The SUSTAIN (SUbstrate and Systems of Trays for Agricultural INnovation) project aims to transform Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) through the development of 3D-printed, recyclable substrate-tray systems that enhance plant growth, resource efficiency, and overall sustainability.

By addressing the limitations of current materials and energy-intensive cultivation systems, SUSTAIN targets a 10–15% yield increase and the elimination of non-sustainable substrates.

The project brings together a multidisciplinary team combining expertise in innovative material design (Simona Perotto, PI, PoliMI), plant science (Giacomo Cocetta, Roberto Oberti, Fulvia Tambone, UniMI), and vertical farming cultivation (Agricola Moderna S.r.l.).
