AbstractThis thesis deals with the mathematical models of Shape Memory Alloys, or simply SMA. These alloys are materials with peculiar features that provide applications in various elds. We propose a modi cation of the already existing macroscopic models in order to reproduce the permanent degradation eff ects which characterize these materials when subject to iterated deformation cycles. The work is structured in the following manner. First of all, we present a review of both the microscopical and the macroscopical description of SMA. Afterwards, the first steps towards our goal is made by introducing a microstructural domain which evolves permanently during the process. Consequently, we analyze the eff ects of this first modi cation and we go ahead with the proposal of further modi fications. The results obtained from these modi ed models are lastly compared with the results experimentally obtained and provided by SAES Getters S.p.A. The work ends with the description of the numerical algorithm used for the solution of the model and a few considerations on the achieved results and future possible studies.
